Who can benefit from Speech and Language Therapy?

If your child is experiencing difficulties or differences with any aspect of their speech, language or social communication, speech and language therapy offers a fun, evidence based approach to boost their skills and confidence.

If your young child is a late talker, therapy is a fun, play based way to boost their language development. We empower families and education staff to provide a stimulating communication environment for children, supporting them to express their needs and ease frustration and tantrums.

Our Approach Speech and Language Therapy

At The Family Treatment Service, our highly qualified and experienced Speech & Language Therapists provide a detailed assessment and tailor made therapy programme that can be delivered in our London clinic or in your child’s educational setting. 

We involve parents and carers throughout, providing you with advice and strategies that you can use to support learning between sessions

We collaborate closely with other professionals who may be involved with your child, such as psychologists, occupational therapists and special educational needs coordinators (SENCOs) in schools and nurseries.

Speech & Language Assessment

A speech and language assessment involves the following, all completed by one of our highly experienced registered speech and language therapists:

  • A face to face 1.5 - 2 hour appointment looking at all aspects of the child’s language; play, attention skills, comprehension, spoken communication and social interaction skills

  • A formal language assessment, where appropriate

  • Where a child is less verbal, a therapy session is incorporated into the initial session

  • Strategies are demonstrated for parents to develop communication further and give them opportunities to try these strategies

  • A detailed report outlining clinical findings and recommendations in each area mentioned above

The pricing for a speech and language assessment is  £800.

Initial Appointment: £160
For a one hour initial appointment with a Speech & Language Therapist. Follow-up appointments are billed at £160 for an hour or £120 for 30 minutes.

Speech & Language Assessment: £800
The Speech & Language Assessment includes a face-to-face session to go over all aspects of the child’s language; a formal language assessment, where appropriate; and a detailed report.
